Asrock, one of the world’s largest makers of mainboards, has unveiled a new series of mainboards aimed exactly at hardcore gamers. The new motherboards not only integrate a plenty of features that Asrock and Intel Corp.’s X87 platforms already offer, but also comes with Killer E2200 network processor that prioritizes traffic that comes from games.

Asrock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer mainboards based on Intel X87 core-logic and designed for Intel Core i-series “Haswell” microprocessors in LGA1150 packaging and supports all the overclocking knobs and features that the chips and chipset can provide, including (but not limited to) unlocked multiplier and memory overclocking. In addition to that, the new family of mainboards integrate Killer E2200 network processor that prioritizes traffic that comes from games and is supposed to boost performance of online games, high quality streaming media and other time sensitive UDP (user datagram protocol) based applications up to 5 times.

Experiments at Asrock’s lab have proven that Killer LAN is especially good at reducing the latency in online games, for instance the latency in League of Legends can be reduced by 136%, and the latency in Diablo 3 is reduced by 60% and DOTA2 by 47%. When it comes to professional gaming, even millisecond decisions may turn the tides of a tourney, which is why certain gamers may prefer Asrock’s new mainboards.

All premium mainboards for Asrock include Purity Sound onboard audio solution for the pickiest ears and 600 ohm headphiles; HDMI-In for connecting a secondary device to a PC; Digi Power to provide the CPU Vcore voltage more efficiently and smoothly; gold caps and 8-phase VRM and so on.

Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel is a professional gamer and entrepreneur. Johnathan is considered the world's first prominent and accomplished professional gamer. He is also considered one of the best professional gamers in the world.

Last time I checked, standard NICs have latencies in the nanoseconds, not milliseconds. The only interesting feature here is the same ones they provide for their new AMD APU motherboards -- 'Purity Sound' -- which has a high SNR-ratio with a 600 ohm headphone amp like high end soundcards.

Having high SNR ratio and a 600 ohm headphone amp does not make this "high end" by any means. You don't judge audio quality with numbers.

I'm somewhat confused by the claim of a reduction of 136% of anything. If you reduce something by 100%, isn't it then zero?

136% reduction of latency is a prophecy
