MicroStar International, one of the leading manufacturers of mainboards, has introduced its own lineup of mainboards designed for AMD’s next-generation accelerated processing units code-named Kaveri. In a bid to provide consumers with the highest quality and most stable products, MSI utilizes its new Military Class 4 components for the all motherboards within the new MSI FM2+ series.

Microstar carries one of the broadest families of FM2+ mainboards among top manufacturers. The lineup includes ten different motherboards based on A88X, A78 and A55, aiming all market segments, from high-end to low-end. Thanks to innovations of AMD A-series “Kaveri” accelerated processing unit, all new platforms will support PCI Express 3.0, dual-channel DDR3 memory at up to 2600MHz clock-rate, up to four monitors (DVI, D-sub, HDMI, DisplayPort connectors) as well as DirectX 11.1-class graphics engine.

AMD’s FM2+ socket is compatible with existing AMD A-series “Trinity” and “Richmond” APUs as well as the forthcoming chips code-named Kaveri that are due in Q1 2014. Those, who want an AMD APU-based system today, but plan to upgrade it eventually should choose platforms with FM2+ sockets.

Key components of MSI FM2+ mainboards have all been certified to seven MIL-STD-810G tests to ensure stable operation under the harshest conditions. The motherboards should continue operating stably even when heavily overclocked or in poor cooling conditions.

MSI’s new FM2+ series motherboards are equipped with many exclusive technologies, including the one-second overclocking OC Genie 4 with two-stage performance settings, the 4th generation of graphical BIOS interface, Click BIOS 4 and the Control Center software that combines monitoring, tuning and remote controlling functionality.

The new mainboards should emerge on sale shortly.

AMD Fusion A-series APU code-named Kaveri is projected to feature up to four Steamroller high-performance x86 general-purpose cores as well as GCN architecture-based AMD Radeon HD graphics engine. The Kaveri chip will be AMD’s first high-performance accelerated processing unit with HSA [heterogeneous system architecture] enhancements, such as heterogeneous uniform memory access, CPU and GPU cache coherency and other. Moreover, Kaveri will be AMD’s first high-performance APUs made using 28nm process technology. Finally, the chips will feature new dual-channel memory controller as well as all-new power management.

Richmond is AMD's old 90nm chip of the Turion series (socket S1).
That's clever!
