About once month ago we reported about i845GE and i845PE based mainboards from ASUS that contained a strange BlueMagic PCI slot (see this news-story). As I told you that time, ASUS BlueMagic PCI slot is compatible with ordinary PCI, but supports some new and exclusive devices that the company that is going to introduce in the near future. Today I found at this Taiwanese web-site that the ASUS has launched a wireless kit intended for these mainboards.

The wireless kit integrates Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11a and 802.11b (WLAN) protocols and will allow the users to easily built wireless local area networks as well as communicate with various handheld devices that support the Bluetooth. The company said the board will also include Gigabit LAN, Serial ATA-150 and FireWire (IEEE 1394) support to meet high-speed data transmission and storage needs. In fact, the mentioned data transmission functions are not needed on the most high-end mainboard from ASUS based on i845PE chipset, since it already has everything integrated.<%BANNER[article]%>

I believe that the device will also be compatible with other mainboards from ASUS with BlueMagic PCI slot.

Pricing and availability timeframe were not touched upon.
