ASUS continues to remain the most-influential Taiwanese hardware maker. It is estimated that the company shipped 1.65 million of mainboards, 110 thousands of notebooks and about 570 thousands of optical drives, in addition to other products in their huge portfolio. ASUS sells approximately 60% of mainboards and nearly half of notebooks it produces to OEM clients.
MSI supplied about 1.4 million of mainboards, also the sales of graphics cards and other devices were strong.
ABIT and EPoX managed to dramatically increase their monthly sales in January. DigiTimes reports that ABIT succeeded in selling loads of products to HP Singapore and also to its Rolly subsidiary in China.
AOpen’s performance was boosted by rising shipments of graphics cards. The company also said that the first quarter sales are going to remain on high level because a lot of its clients order AOpen’s new slim DVD+RW drives now.
SOYO, Jetway Information, Unitech Scientific Industrial (USI) and Biostar International indicated declines in their sales. There are no details about their business, but it seems that decreases were caused by mix of factors that includes overall market situation as well as the condition of market segments the companies are concentrated on.
A Shuttle’s spokesperson said that half of the company’s revenues were contributed by the sales of barebones. Shuttle’s results gained 11.6 points in January.
Traditionally Asian companies can boast with high sales in January because of Chinese New Year’s holidays. In February computer components manufacturers and designers usually report declines in sales. This year is not going to become an exception and expect sales to remain weak in March as well. The decline in February’s sales are said to be 13% to 18%.
