Are you impressed by 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus-supporting i845PE/GE-based mainboards? Well, Soltek already discovers another overclocking phenomenon called Intel 865-series for even more advanced Pentium 4 and
Today the mainboard maker said it had managed to get its i865 powered mainboards SL-86SPE(-L) / SL-86MP(-L) to work stably and correctly at PSB overclocked to 1200MHz.
SL-86SPE(-L) / SL-86MP(-L) mainboards adopt i865PE and i865GE + ICH5 chipsets,
officially support 400/533/800MHz QPB processors, feature 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC2100/PC2700/3200 memory (dual-channel memory bus support: memory modules used should be identical and installed in pairs), an AGP 8x, 6 PCI slots, 2-channel ATA-33/66/100, 2-channel Serial ATA-150, 10/100Mb/s Ethernet controller (for -L only), 6-channel AC'97 sound, USB 2.0 and so on. Soltek claims that thanks to its unique R&D efforts, these mainboards are able to be overclocked to 1200MHz Quad Pumped Bus, although, it does not guarantee that every such device you get in a retail shop near you will also be as overclockable.
In addition, the mainboard manufacturer announced today that its
PS. I wonder what all these mainboard makers will do when actual 1200MHz QPB-supporting chips will come out. Will they overclock their products towards ultimate 1600 or maybe even more megahertz?
