NVIDIA nForce2 core-logic is probably the best chipset for the Socket A processors at the moment. Providing high performance and excellent reliability, the series has been adopted by the largest and most famous mainboard makers. Nevertheless, there are still some mainboard manufacturers who do not offer anything based on the nForce2 at this point; for instance, one of such companies is Gigabyte Technology.
<%BANNER[article]%>Being major AIB partner of ATI Technologies, Gigabyte has never adopted NVIDIA’s core-logic products for some reason, but it looks like the company changes its mind in regards the chipset these days. Sources with knowledge of the matter indicated that Gigabyte Technology now offers its own nForce2-based mainboards.
The company has not unveiled its new products yet and it may happen that it will not do it immediately, but we managed to learn some interesting facts about the newcomers. Reportedly, Gigabyte offers variety of mainboards for different customers with different requirements and price points. First of all Gigabyte Technology is trying to address $100-$180 segments with mainboards supporting latest AMD processors, dual-channel memory advanced audio, I/O and so on. Since Gigabyte just loves to bundle its products with proprietary features and technologies, this bunch of mainboards is definitely not an exception.
