Intel is Developing Overclocking/Tweaking Utility?

Intel is very-well known for its strictly negative attitude towards overclocking and tweaking. Its own mainboards offer very conservative feature-set with no capabilities to push performance upwards. However, rumours about Intel’s changing its opinion about tweaking have been floating around the World Wide Web, except Intel’s own web-site for some time now. Personally I even have a feeling that the company is really considering a major change in its views. Well, our friends from OverClockers.ru web-site managed to find a page at Intel.com that advertises… performance tweaking utility from the world’s biggest semiconductor manufacturer Intel Corporation itself!

Intel will brand its utility as Intel Desktop Control Center. The software will work with Intel’s “performance and enthusiast Intel Desktop Boards”. Funny, but Intel has never pointed out which of its mainboards is designed for enthusiasts given its very puritanical attitude towards overclocking. Hence, either there will be a new Intel Desktop Boards lineup to support Intel Desktop Control Center, or the company will simply provide appropriate BIOS for appropriate mainboards in its current family.

The company claims its Intel Desktop Control Center will be able to improve system stability, enhance performance, and control cooling and acoustic characteristics. This easy-to-use console dynamically displays temperatures, speed, and usage percentages, allowing you to verify system stability and check performance gains without rebooting into the BIOS, Intel said. There will be an opportunity to store settings as presents once they are made according to needs.
