MSI announced their new unique LGA775 mainboard on Intel P45 Express that stands out due to 8 memory DIMM slots onboard. The new board officially called P45-8D has also got a nickname: "Memory Lover". It is the world’s first mainboard with four DDR2 and four DDR3 memory slots. This way MSI P45-8D allows using both memory types without any limitations that makes it an excellent platform for memory system upgrades. The board supports total of 16GB DDR2 or up to 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM.
Besides 8 DIMM slots, the board has pretty standard functionality, typical of high-end MSI mainboards. They also added the support of Memory Lover ASMV (Auto Sense Memory Voltage) that sends the correct voltage automatically to the installed memory modules.
However, unlike other products, this board supports only one PCI-Express x16 interface for the graphics cards. All other features of MSI P45-8D are quite predictable. The new board supports up to 8 SATA2 devices, has an 8-channel integrated sound controller and a Gigabit network controller.
MSI hasn’t yet disclosed the price and shipping schedule for their new P45-8D board.
