Asrock’s New Intel 8-Series Mainboards to Feature Conformal Coating

In an attempt to be even friendlier towards overclockers and performance enthusiasts, Asrock has announced that it would apply special waterproof conformal coating onto its A-Style-series mainboards based on Intel 8-series chipsets. As a result, PCs powered by the motherboards will never fail because of leaked liquid cooling system or accidental drop of a conductive substance onto the mainboard.

 

The special layer of conformal coating makes Asrock’s motherboards invulnerable to conductive liquids, so overclockers will not have to worry about accidently spilling liquid nitrogen, liquid helium or even clam chowder over their motherboards while they are overclocking. Along with conductive liquids, conformal coating also protects the motherboard against dust, corrosion and extreme temperatures. Essentially, the coating is Asrock’s yet another ultimate armor for the upcoming Intel 8-series motherboards.

While the conformal coating will save the life of a mainboard in case of a small incident with liquid or other conductive material, it will not stop against a major leakage. Many parts of the motherboards (e.g., pins inside slots, sockets as well as connectors) need to stay conductive and therefore still carry the risk of short circuit.

In addition to waterproof coating, Asrock’s A-Style-series mainboards based on Intel 8-series chipsets and designed for Intel Core i-series “Haswell” microprocessors in LGA1150 packaging will also feature audiophile-grade audio sub-system, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI-input and some other exclusive technologies. The new motherboards will debut in June, 2013.
