Samsung Electronics announced the industry's first 4GB DDR SDRAM DIMM memory module. The module encompasses 36 1Gbit memory chips that achieve 4GB density for high-performance applications such as servers, workstations and supercomputers.

The 4GB DDR DIMM is based on Samsung's 0.10 micron technology 1Gb DDR SDRAM components. Samsung’s 1Gb DDR SDRAM offers a 266MHz to 333MHz performance and will be available in -x4, -x8, and -x16 bit configurations with industry-standard 400mil TSOP2 packaging.

Samsung developed the industry's first fully working 1Gb DDR SDRAM chip in December 2002. Samples were delivered to major system developers at that time. Samsung plans mass production of such products in the second half of 2003.
