DRAM memory market continues to enjoy moderate growth, unlike other industries these days. DRAMeXchange.com Taiwanese e-stock-exchange said this week that global DRAM output in March was 6.05% up from February this year, achieving 226.89 million 256Mbit equivalent units.

The main reason of 6.05% rise is more working days in March compared to February in China and Taiwan, while the less important cause is expected strengthening demand for personal computers and other appliances where DRAM is used now and later this year.

Taiwan, accounting for 18-20% of total DRAM output worldwide last month, saw 20% growth in March, compared to February, DigiTimes news-paper reports, while Germany and the USA experienced 12.59% and 4.53% growth respectively last month. Japanese DRAM output declined 14.10% since Mitsubishi Electric is retreating from this business.

With DRAM makers adopting 0.13 micron and thinner manufacturing technologies and 300mm wafers, DRAM output will gradually increase this year, of course, if the overall economical situation does not worsen.
