Micron Technology continues to demonstrate strong DDR-II product roadmap by adding more and more products in its list of intentions. Today the company announced the first shipments of 1Gb DDR-II memory chips to server makers.

Last week we reported that the firm will not deliver the 1Gb DDR-II DRAMs until 2005. The company did not announce commercial availability dates of its 1Gb DDR-II components today, hence, today’s 1Gb DDR-II announcement does not directly contradict the previous report.

Micron’s 1.8V 1Gb DDR-II components at 400 and 533MHz are packaged in industry standard FBGA packaging and are manufactured on 0.11 micron process technology.

Micron has demonstrated DDR-II chips of 256Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb density and is in a position to supply memory module makers with chips for 128MB to 4GB DDR-II memory modules at speeds of 400 and 533MHz.
