MemoryOCZ Technology Reduces Latencies on 667MHz DDR2 Products.OCZ Ships DDR2-667 with Low LatenciesCategory: Memory by Anton Shilov [ 02/02/2005 | 06:26 AM ]
OCZ Technology introduced this week its new DDR2 memory modules rated to operate at 667MHz with extremely low latency settings, providing the highest possible performance to modern Intel Pentium 4 platforms.
“We created the OCZ PC2-5400 DDR2 Enhanced Bandwidth Platinum Edition to bring out the highest possible performance of any Intel Pentium4 – DDR2 combination. The fast bank access and closing times greatly help to reduce page miss penalties that are a severe legacy of non-streaming applications,” said Dr. Michael Schuette, Director of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. OCZ PC2-5400 DDR2 Enhanced Bandwidth Platinum Edition are designed to function at 667MHz speeds with CL4 2-2-8 latencies, which is significantly lower compared to the company’s previous-generation PC2-5400 flavour that could operate with CL4 4-4-12 settings. Furthermore, the new memory modules from OCZ incorporate the so-called Enhanced Bandwidth technology – a special way of intelligent SPD programming that optimizes memory latencies for the best possible interaction between the system memory and memory controller. Other leading makers of advanced memory modules currently offer 667MHz DDR2 products with CL4 OCZ Technology’s DDR2 memory products at 667MHz clock-speed are available in 512MB and 1GB memory modules as well as in 1GB or 2GB dual-channel kits. The new products from OCZ require 2.1V memory voltage that can be pumped up to 2.2V without losing warranty, which is up 0.3V – 0.4V from default DDR2 memory voltage of 1.8V. It is unclear whether the majority popular mainboards support 2.1V and 2.2V voltages, but mainboards designed for overclockers, such as premium products from ASUS and ABIT, can provide such memory voltage. Each member of the OCZ PC2-5400 Platinum EB series offer integrated platinum mirrored copper heatspreaders for efficient heat dissipation as well as lifetime warranty. Pricing OCZ PC2-5400 DDR2 Enhanced Bandwidth Platinum Edition was not officially set. Related news
