OCZ Technology, who was ranked as the world’s leading maker of advanced memory modules by X-bit labs’ readers, announced addition to its Voltage eXtreme (VX) memory lineup. This time extreme memory voltages helped the company to offer low-latency DDR memory modules capable to work at the speed of 500MHz.

“In the tradition of the original VX series, we are pleased to raise the bar another few notches and introduce the PC-4000 VX series of high performance modules. At 250MHz and 2-2-2 latency settings, the PC-4000 VX is capable of data transfers unparalleled by any other module in the market place,” said Dr. Michael Schuette, Director of Technology Development at OCZ Technology.

OCZ’s new PC4000 Gold VX operates at 3.3V with 500MHz clock-speed and CL2 2-2-8 latency settings, the lowest in the industry among 500MHz memory modules. OCZ EL PC-4000 Gold VX includes Extended Voltage Protection (EVP) and is rated to handle up to an incredible 3.5V without invalidating the OCZ lifetime warranty.

Previous OCZ Voltage eXtreme memory modules could ran at 400MHz with CL2 2-2-8 timings with 3.2V voltage.

OCZ said its PC4000 Gold VX DIMMs were designed for AMD Athlon 64-based systems.

Typical DDR SDRAM modules are certified to run with 2.6V memory voltage, but some mainboards allow to increase this figure. However, the majority of mainboards cannot deliver more than 2.85V to memory, furthermore, not all mainboards can offer “clean” signal at high voltages because of not ideal power circuitry. To tackle the issue, OCZ introduced its OCZ DDR Booster Voltage Diagnostic Device with patent pending PowerClean Technology to allow users to supply cleaner power to their memory modules, resulting in more stable memory operation. OCZ DDR Booster also allows VDIMM adjustments up to 3.9V and is compatible with the majority of DDR1 mainboards.

OCZ supplies its EL PC3200 Voltage eXtreme Gold Edition memory modules in 512MB memory sticks.
