OCZ Releases 800MHz 4GB Memory Kits
[06/19/2007 01:46 PM]OCZ Technology, a top producer of high-speed memory modules and other gear for enthusiasts, has released a new set of memory modules that combines both high clock-speeds as well as extreme capacity, something never-seen-before.
“It is important to make sure that memory performance is not sacrificed by going to high densities. That is where the new 4GB Platinum kits combine the best of two worlds – abundant memory with OCZ’s patent-pending Enhanced Bandwidth Technology to again raise the bar for memory products,” said Michael Schuette, vice president of technology development at OCZ Technology.
Usually memory module manufacturers have to sacrifice clock-speeds for module capacities and otherwise, as it is easier to set fewer memory devices working at high clock speeds. Until recently it was nearly impossible to create 2GB memory modules operating at over 667MHz clock-speeds, however, OCZ has managed to find a solution.
OCZ’s PC2-6400 Platinum Vista Performance Edition 4GB dual-channel memory module kit operates at 800MHz with CL5 4-4-15 latency settings and 2.1V voltage. Previously, OCZ only managed to create 667MHz 4GB kits, which was not really fast enough for computer enthusiasts seeking for every bit of additional performance.
Pricing of the new products remains to be seen.
