China-based Inspur Group showed interest in acquiring Qimonda as a fully-functional company, however, it decided to obtain research and development operations of the failed DRAM company in China instead.

“It is the only research center in the PRC with advanced technology up to the global standard for the development of DRAM products. We plan to further invest 100 million Chinese Yuan in the infrastructure of the Inspur Group Integrated Circuit Design and Research Centre, enhancing the integrated circuit design capacity,” said Sun Pishu, president of Inspur Group, reports EETimes web-site.

The center has been renamed the Xian Huaxin Semiconductor Company. Inspur Group acquired the center for a consideration of 30 million Chinese yuan (about $4 million) and provides the company with a team of IC designers, according to EETimes.
