Elpida Memory, Japan's leading supplier of dynamic random access memory (DRAM), on Monday announced the latest details regarding the company's product supply situation. According to the firm, its manufacturing facilities are currently operating at nearly normal levels and it has sufficient amount of materials to keep shipping memory until late July.

The memory company indicated that Elpida's Hiroshima plant, Elpida's Rexchip Electronics Corp. subsidiary in Taiwan, and Elpida's assembling and testing subsidiary Akita Elpida are currently operating at near normal levels.

Based on several internal inventory adjustments conducted between Elpida group companies and information gathered from suppliers, Elpida senior officials have concluded that plants have sufficient parts and materials to continue with product supplies to customers until the end of July. Elpida believes there will be no major disruption of production in August or beyond based on discussions the company is continuing to hold with suppliers. These discussions include formulating contingency material supply plans as a precaution.

Elpida will report new developments as necessary. At present the company is taking all possible measures to continue providing customers with a stable supply of products, the company said in a statement.

Elpida is presently one of the largest DRAM suppliers in the world. Disruptions with its shipments could naturally cause prices of memory to increase rather substantially. Stable sales of DRAM means that pricing of computer memory should remain relatively stable.
