Although AMD did not disclose specifications of its new graphics product lineup last week, it did reveal its positioning. Quite naturally, its arch-rival Nvidia Corp. is about to react by nothing more but price-cuts.

AMD last week announced its latest GPUs, the Radeon R9 and R7 families priced between $89 and $599. The new GPUs are expected to bring pressure on Nvidia GeForce to offer price cuts in late November and release one or two new GPUs to defend the $149-249 segment, according to sources from graphics card players cited by DitiTimes web-site.

In the coming quarters AMD plans to introduce five new graphics cards designed for different market segments, including AMD Radeon R7 250 1GB GDDR5 ($89), AMD Radeon R7 260X 2GB GDDR5 ($139), AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 ($199), AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 ($299) as well as AMD Radeon R9 290X. AMD Radeon R9 290X will be available for pre-order starting October 3. A special Battlefield 4 edition of the R9 290X will also be up for grabs from select partners.

AMD did not disclose exact specs of the forthcoming products

While I like competitive price from AMD, I use 3dsmax rendering VRay RT which AMD driver's support is terrible. So I have to choose Nvidia for my next GPU. Hopefully they really gonna slash the price soon.

It's not about drivers, it's about Adobe working with Nvidia, but things may change with heterogenous computing. But we were talking about gaming cards here...

Where did you come with the $599 price?? AMD didn't provide any price (yet) for 290 and 290X cards! Why misleading? :D

I'm hoping the price of the 780 Lightning comes down $50-$100 with the new AMD stuff coming out. $750 for one of those is too rich, even for my blood.

Hell, a $200 GTX760 and $300 GTX770 would absolutely destroy any chance AMD has in the middle market.
