Rambus has changed the design of their web-site and the logotype, as was revealed after visiting Rambus.com URL. It is hard to guess what actually forced the company to do this, but it seems that this becomes a fashionable trend to “transform” company’s impression nowadays, remember HP, Seagate and several others, who have changed their brand-names, mottos, logotypes and so on recently. So, Rambus just follows their colleagues.

At the moment Rambus’ web-site looks much more informative, its usability has been improved greatly, so, guys, if you are interested in Rambus – that is your chance to learn even more about them. Of course, some things may finally have happened inside Rambus: maybe they fully understand that they have almost no prospects in mainstream PC sector anymore, and concentrate on licensing their, without any doubts, interesting technologies to those, who develops bandwidth-very-hungry applications. Of course, the company continues to sue numerous DRAM memory manufacturers in an effort to make some money for the time they spent attending JEDEC meetings in early nineties.

You can track down the evolution of Rambus’ web-site here. The new logotype can be seen here, the old one can be viewed here.

PS. You ask me why I do not upload the pictures of an old and a new logotypes here, at X-Bit Labs News-Wire? Well, Rambus notes the following on their home page:

“Rambus logos are signature marks of Rambus Inc., and like all Rambus Trademarks, Rambus logos are considered a valuable asset. Only certain approved uses of Rambus logos are allowed for Rambus partners, developers and other third parties. Unauthorized use of Rambus logos or of marks that are confusingly similar to any Rambus logo may constitute an infringement of Rambus Trademark rights.”
As I have no idea how a news-story can be understood, I would better not upload any pictures related to Rambus. Maybe the company wants to sue all the web-sites and personal computers related magazines about using the Rambus logo without permission, after they finish with certain DRAM makers? Who knows?
