Corsair Unleashes DDR500 Memory Kits

Following OCZ Technology, GeIL and Kingston, who already announced DDR500 (so-called PC4000) memory modules rated for 500MHz frequency, Corsair Memory made a similar announcement, unveiling XMS4000 memory sticks. Similar to Kingston, Corsair announced these modules as part of its TWINX1024-4000 dual-channel memory kits with 1GB of total capacity.

Modules were pre-tested on ASUS P4C800 (i875P) mainboard in dual-channel mode. Timings, naturally, have to be very conservative to allow such high-speed operation. The exact latency settings are 3-4-4-8, while the most aggressive settings is generally considered as 2-2-2-5. As we have already said earlier, high-speed, but high-latency memory modules are more suitable for i865-series and i875P chipsets for Intel Pentium 4 processors rather than for nForce2 for AMD Athlon XP chips.
