Corsair Offers 550MHz DDR Modules with Reduced Latencies

High-Speed DDR Components Acquire Aggressive Timings

Corsair Memory, a leading maker of advanced memory modules for gamers and computer hardware enthusiasts, announced new memory products rated to operate at 550MHz clock-speed, one of the world’s highest speed-bins of DDR SDRAM, with aggressive latency settings, which improves efficiency and performance of systems running new1 ‘TwinX-4400C25’ memory modules.

Corsair’s new “DDR550” memory modules will be available as 1GB dual-channel optimized kits – TwinX1024-4400C25 and TwinX1024-4400C25PT. The company says that its new modules function with CL2.5 4-4-8 latency settings, down from CL3 4-4-8 timings of the previous incarnation of Corsair’s “PC4400” DDR SDRAM. Corsair’s 550MHz memory modules are not the first to acquire aggressive latencies: in April, 2004, OCZ launched its OCZ’s PC4400 Limited Edition Gold EL DDR with reduced latencies.

Corsair did not unveil any additional details about the modules, such as memory voltage.

The new memory modules from Corsair are claimed to be more affordable than the first incarnation of the company’s 550MHz DDR products and are compatible with all the latest Intel Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon 64 platforms. Additionally, the company’s representative said the fresh modules were available immediately after the launch from the memory company’s resellers.
