Corsair Memory, a leading maker of advanced memory modules, on Tuesday followed some of its rivals with high-speed 4GB memory modules that can operate at high clock-speeds. The new memory modules enable high-capacity memory kits and allow end-users to install up to 24GB of memory into high-end systems.
Corsair’s new 4GB DDR3 modules can operate at 1333MHz with CL9 9-9-27 latency settings and 1.65V voltage. The Corsair Dominator 24GB kit (CMD24GX3M6A1333C9) features six 4GB modules to provide ultimate amount of random access memory for a triple-channel memory sub-system featured on Intel Core i7 microprocessors. The 24GB Dominator memory kit features Corsair’s patented DHX+ heatsink technology along with airflow fan.
Although Dominator branding suggests that the 24GB kit is aimed at performance enthusiasts and even overclockers, the new set is designed for workstation users. Firstly, not a lot of consumer applications can take advantage of 24GB of memory; secondly, not a lot of enthusiasts can pay $1349.99 for a memory kit.
“Corsair’s 24GB Dominator memory kit is perfect for high-performance computing applications, including computational research, HD digital content creation, working with multiple virtual machines, and other data-intensive applications,” said John Beekley, vice president of technical marketing at Corsair.
