Post to SlashdotIntel Corporation today introduced three new processors for mobile PCs, the Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M at 2.50GHz and the mobile Celeron processor at 2.20 and 1.26GHz.
The Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M 2.50GHz is designed for desktop replacement portable PCs and can offer even higher performance compared to Intel’s Pentium M processor. The mobile Intel Celeron CPUs are intended for value notebooks and are not as fast as Intel’s Pentium 4-M and Pentium M chips.
In 1000-unit quantities, the Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M 2.50GHz is priced at $562. In the same quantities, the mobile Intel Celeron processor at 2.20GHz and 1.26GHz are priced at $149 and $107 respectively.
Since both Pentium 4-M 2.50GHz as well as the Mobile Celeron 2.20GHz chips are priced just like the top CPUs in their families, I would expect that soon Intel will cut the prices on its mobile parts, the only question is when.
