Leading maker of small form-factor (SFF) PC barebones Shuttle Computer on Tuesday unveiled the world’s first SFF chassis based on NVIDIA’s nForce4 core-logic, providing users who seek for small computers a rich feature-set amid the highest performance provided by the latest AMD Athlon 64-series processors.
Shuttle’s new SFF PC is based on NVIDIA nForce4 media and communication processor that supports AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processors with 1000MHz HyperTransport bus, PCI Express x16 slot for graphics cards along with plethora of I/O options, including NVIDIA RAID, Serial ATA-150 and other important technologies, like USB 2.0, FireWire, 8-channel AC’97 audio and so on The SN25P designed for Socket 939 processors is equipped with 2 DDR DIMM slots, 1 PCI Express x16 slot, 1 PCI Express x16 slot, 4 Serial ATA-150 ports, 1 Parallel ATA-150 ports, Gigabyte Ethernet 8-channel audio, USB 2.0 and FireWire connectors. The system traditionally comes with 8-in-1 card-reader. Shuttle used VIA Envy24PT audio chip to enable 8-channel audio and Marvell In order to be able to cool down the modern AMD Athlon 64 processors and graphics cards Shuttle had to use its new P-series chassis equipped with a total of 5 fans, fourth generation of Shuttle’s patented ICE cooling system for central processing units and improved airflow design. The chassis changes resulted in slightly higher size and weight compared to typical barebones from Shuttle: 32.5*22*21cm (length, width, height) versus usual size of 30*20*18.5cm. The XPC SN25P is equipped with 350W PSU. The chassis allow installing one 5.25” optical drive and up to three 3.5” hard disk drives. Pricing information and availability timeframes were not revealed.
