ATI Technologies said it had reached a decisive milestone in the handheld media processor market, having delivered over 100 million Imageon media processors to mobile phone manufacturers.

“The convergence of mobile phones and consumer electronics technology is the cornerstone of ATI’s vision for the handheld market and key to our success in reaching this important achievement,” said Paul Dal Santo, vice president and general manager, handheld product group, ATI Technologies.

ATI is a leader in the design and manufacturing of discrete media processors for mobile phones with more than 35 handset models available in the market from many of the world’s top manufacturers, including Motorola and Siemens.

ATI has been instrumental in driving integration of key multimedia features to the media processor space and was the first to introduce 3D capabilities for the mobile phone. This achievement has been a result not only of ATI’s leading feature set, but also of the organization’s commitment to anticipating and delivering on the needs of the market.

“Imageon processors leverage ATI's wealth of expertise ranging from digital televisions to 3D graphics to develop leading edge media processors for mobile phones. To reach 100 million media processors shipped, we have successfully teamed operational efficiencies with technology innovation to support visionary customers who have adopted our products,” Mr. Dal Santo added.
