In order to sustain increasing demand for notebooks, producers of mobile computers reportedly plan to bundle Microsoft Windows Vista free upgrade coupon with their notebooks. The move will stipulate users interested in using Microsoft’s next-generation operating system (OS) to acquire notebooks today instead of waiting for new year.

Unnamed notebook makers will bundle Microsoft’s Windows Vista free upgrade coupon with their products starting from October, reports DigiTimes web-site. Vista Capable PC systems will allow for a free upgrade to Vista Premium, as long as the system is equipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows XP Home OS-equipped PC users will have to pay 50% of the Vista Premium prices, with the upgrade to Vista Basic costing less than $100.

Microsoft Windows Vista highly-anticipated operating system is projected to be unveiled in early 2007 after numerous delays. Analysts expect sales of personal computers to increase, when the new OS is available. Due to the delay of Windows Vista launch, market observers re-estimated their PC sales guidance to a lower level.

The Windows Vista upgrade coupons should partly offset the impact of the next-generation OS postponement, even though not all end-users are likely to utilize the coupon due to the fact that notebooks come with manufacturer-specific pre-installed software and drivers and a lot of customers may not feel they have enough experience to install the appropriate programs once again.
