Asustek Computer, a leading maker of various computer components and notebooks, on Monday unveiled a breed of solutions supporting mobile WiMAX technology which allow to connect to the Internet in areas where WiMAX is available. The family of mobile WiMAX devices will certainly be appreciated by gadget fans in well-developed regions.

Asustek’s customer premises equipment (CPE) is based on undisclosed Intel Corp.’s silicon and belongs to either IEEE 802.16e wave 1 or waver 2 standard, (depending on the model), can support QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM adaptive modulation and can support different working frequencies. All the new devices will be on display at WiMAX Summit Taipei 2008 as well as at Computex Taipei 2008 this week.

The main member of Asustek’s WiMAX supporting family is Asus Eee PC 901 equipped with built in WiMAX module that can connect to the Internet in about twenty seconds. In addition, Asustek’s WM-series of devices includes WMV25E1+ modem, WMNV25E2+ modem with RJ45 Ethernet port, WEXP25E2V2 device as well as a rather unique WUSB25E2V2 WiMAX USB dongle for notebook or desktop PC.

Even though Asus Eee PC 901 is definitely not the world’s first notebook with integrated 3G or WiMAX module, considering the price and sizes of the product, it may get rather popular among many users.
