Samsung Electronics has announced plans to introduce a smartbook running Google Chrome operating system. The device will allow Samsung to test the market of ARM-based mobile computers which can boast very long battery life, but which cannot run Microsoft Windows and do not offer high performance.
According to Samsung, the smartbook based on Google Chrome operating system will feature 10.1” LED display, 2GB of random access memory, 64GB hard drive, 3G, Wi-Fi and other communication technologies. The netbook will have 12-hour battery life, reports Channel News web-site. It is unclear which platform will power the mobile computer, but it is possible that it will be Qualcomm Snapdragon core-logic with 1.5GHz processor, which will, perhaps, be produced on Samsung’s own fabs.
“We will be expanding our range shortly and we will have a Chrome-based notebook,” said Phil Newton, a Samsung representative.
Google Chrome operating system is tailored to support Google’s own services and is not designed to support a lot of software from third parties. As a result, Samsung’s smartbook will only be fully-functional when connected to the Internet. This is a big limitation and Samsung will need to find out if there is demand towards such computers.

Chromium is much like a dummy terminal rather than an operating system. i have serious doubts over it. google has screwed most of the services it launched these days. But who knows!
But I don't know why someone would buy a PC which can only edit docs and browse. Whos going to buy all the great hardware out there?
