Lenovo Group, one of the top makers of personal computers in the world, has officially unveiled its first "ultrabooks", mobile computers that combine ultra-thin form-factors with high performance, rapid responsibility and affordable price. Even though the IdeaPad U300s ultrabook as well as U300 and U400  pack the latest microprocessors into thin cases, they are not truly affordable.

“The new IdeaPad U Series laptops from Lenovo provide style mavens everything they need in a slender, mobile and super chic package. The U300s, U300 and U400 laptops are the perfect luxury accessory this season, liberating consumers on the go to combine productivity and entertainment in one stylish device," said Yao Yingjia, vice president of innovation design center at Lenovo.

IdeaPad 300s - The First Ultrabook for Consumers

At just 0.6" (14.9mm) thick, the IdeaPad U300s is built from a single-piece aluminum shell to create a sleek and lightweight product weighing in at less than three pounds (1.36 kilograms). Lenovo's U300s Ultrabook features 13.3" screen with 1366*768 resolution ans is powered by Intel Core i-series "Sandy Bridge" processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 256GB solid-state drive, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 connectors, as well as an integrated 1.3MP (720p HD) webcam and so on.

Other smart technologies include the so-called breathable keyboard, Lenovo enhanced experience 2.0, an Intel advanced cooling technology that allows air to flow in through the keyboard and out of the sides and rear hinge. This design removes the need for vents on the underside of the notebook, which allows usage for long periods of use on laps or even on a pillow.

Lenovo's U300s provides up to eight hours of productive use or 30 days on standby and with Lenovo RapidCharge its battery can be charged to 50% capacity in just 30 minutes, according to the manufacturer.

The IdeaPad 300s Ultrabook will be available in Graphite Grey or limited-edition Clementine Orange – the trendy colors have been applied through an electrolytic process, and sandblasted to create a perfect, scratch-resistant coating.

The U300s starts at $1199.99, which is around $200 more expensive than Intel Corp., one of the main driving forces behind ultrabooks, promised. Besides, it is more expensive than the starting price of Apple's MacBook Air.

IdeaPad U300 and U400 Ultraportable Laptops
