Research in Motion hopes that its BB10 platform will allow the company to remain as the No. 3 mobile ecosystem on the planet. Apparently, RIM's management does not consider Windows Phone 8 as a serious competitor and also does not expect itself to be able to beat Apple, not talking about Android.

“I think we have a clear shot at being the number three mobile operating system in the world,” said Thorsten Heins, chief executive officer of RIM, at a press conference, reports LaptopMag web-site.

According to IDC market research company, RIM's Blackberry currently commands around 4.8% of the market, whereas rivals Google Android and Apple iOS platforms maintain 68.1% and 16.9% market share, respectively.

RIM Blackberry and Nokia Symbian ruled the smartphone market just around four years ago, but quick development of Apple iOS and Google Android essentially destroyed both platforms thanks to rich eco-systems and support for advanced third-party apps.

RIM is not standing still and is working on BB10 operating system, which is going to see the light of the day early in 2013, that will bring features that Blackberry smartphones have to offer to the level of Android and iOS. The company also has a unique trump: enterprise-class email system that works with corporate email solutions, which is why many big companies still prefer Blackberry to iPhone or Android.

It is noteworthy that RIM clearly wants to fight Microsoft for the third place on the market of smartphones. While Microsoft Windows Phone 8 is supported by different phone makers, including Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei, they all are very similar. Although only RIM makes BlackBerry devices, they are different from each other, which is why it looks like RIM may have a trump in its battle with Microsoft.

The main thing about Blackberry devices is that you don't always need to cover them with Blackberry cases as much as Apple and Android phones as they are much more delicate nature. This toughness of Blackberry is one of the reason of it's popularity.Visit http://www.wrappz.com/cases/blackberry.php to learn more.
