Apple to Offer Ultimate iPad with 128GB of NAND Flash

Thanks to the release of the Apple iPad media tablet with retina-class display almost a year ago, applications and high-quality videos started to demand more storage space, but at the same time the lineup of iPads remained the same and included 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Still, it is obvious that for intensive usage higher amount of storage is required and a wait for the iPad with 128GB seems to be nearly over.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is finally getting ready to launch fourth-generation iPad media tablets with 128GB of NAND flash storage. The new “ultimate” iPads will be available with Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi+cellular wireless communication technologies as well as in black and white colours, just like existing models. The iPad 128GB Wi-Fi will cost $799, whereas the iPad 128GB Wi-Fi+4G will be priced at $929.
The report notes that the new iPad 128GB media tablets will join the family of Apple’s slates, which will feature four storage options. While the 16GB version looks somewhat archaic in 2013, it does not seem that Apple plans to end-of-life the model with limited amount of storage space.
Apple iPad 9.7” slates with 128GB of NAND flash storage are expected to become available shortly. Later this year Apple is expected to unveil a major redesign of the iPad.
Apple did not comment on the news-story.
