Apple iPad mini quickly turned into extremely popular both among experienced tablet users as well as among those, who have not yet owned an iPad. As a result of a vast choice of applications, the iPad mini rapidly became a business tool for many, creating a demand for various add-on devices. This week Belkin and Logitech, two leading makers of various peripherals, introduced ultra-thin wireless keyboards with stand for the iPad mini.

Belkin FastFit Bluetooth wireless keyboard aluminum case is just 7mm thick, and features Belkin’s TruType keyboard, which provides well-spaced keys for fast and accurate typing. Each key has a spring mechanism that provides tactile feedback when struck. The keyboard has function-specific keys for copying and pasting text, moderating volume and controlling music. The case features low-powered Bluetooth 3.0 connection and 200mAh battery that ensures comfortable wireless typing with battery life as long as 155 hours. The keyboard case automatically wake the iPad mini once opened and puts it to sleep when closed.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini – which is 7.3mm thin - has membrane scissor type keys as well as a slim aluminum cover that matches the iPad mini and brings durable protection to it with minimal (220g) weight. The keyboard connects to the tablet using Bluetooth wireless interface and is compatible with built-in magnets, thus supporting instant On/Off feature upon opening and closing the cover. The keyboard maintains a traditional layout and standard key size, so despite its overall smaller design, there is no learning curve for fingers, besides, it features iPad mini function shortcut keys for quick commands, such as copy and paste as well as multimedia controls.

Both keyboards offer full-size keys for easy typing, saving precious screen space for content, both come with wireless Bluetooth technology, both feature additional keys and both are extremely thin: one is just 7.3mm (Logitech) thick, another is even thinner at 7mm (Belkin). It should be pretty hard for end-users to choose between the two keyboards.

The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in February 2013, for a suggested retail price of $79.99. The Belkin FastFit Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard Case for iPad Mini will be available for pre-order on belkin.com soon at the price of $79.99.
