A viral video that hit the web earlier this week possibly hints to a premium laptop with retina-class multi-touch display that is claimed to be designed by Google and run Chrome operating system. In case the search and advertising giant actually plans to release such a personal computer, then it may have chances to become an influential player on the market of PCs.

The video, which has been allegedly stolen by hackers from Slinky.Me agency, shows up a notebook with rather simplistic aluminum body that reminds of Apple MacBook Pro and sharp edges that mimic the original Voodoo Envy. The tag line of the video is “Designed by Google. Down to the last pixel” and the personal computer features a display with 2560*1700 resolution with multi-touch capability. The AndroidAuthority web-site cites some of the developers as saying that the Google Pixel is indeed a real product that is tested by Google.

“This is a pixel, the smallest bit of a picture, made from tiny red, green and blue lights. Now, by itself, a pixel is not much, but together pixels create entire worlds. You could say, like an atom, pixel is a building block and the more pixels we add, the more wonderful the world. And from four million pixels we created something new, the Chromebook Pixel, a new kind of computer designed entirely by Google,” says the video.

So far, Google Chrome-based laptops have been pretty basic and were aimed at various Internet geeks and people with basic needs. In the event that Google Pixel notebook is a real product, it will be a vast departure from the previous positioning of Chromebooks as without any doubts it seems to be a premium product. Moreover, multi-touch display with 2560*1700 resolution actually points to rich high-definition multimedia capabilities, including high-performance general-purpose processing (including dedicated high-performance graphics core), flawless HD video playback, high-quality audio, speedy wireless Internet connectivity and other features that distinguish first-class notebooks.
