The seventh generation Apple iPhone will not only be faster and better than the predecessor, but must have a “killer feature” that will attract more customers to the platform, according to a financial analyst. At present it is unclear what exactly will bring the feature, but given the fact that the competition on the market is intensifying, Apple must offer something that no one else has.

“You saw the Samsung Galaxy S4 come out last week that shows you the innovation cards are up for grabs. What is lacking in that product [the S4] is a killer feature. We think that is where Apple will surprise this year. This [iPhone] 5S cycle this year will be about a killer feature that drives consumers increasingly to the platform, and that increases the value of those 500 million accounts, said Katy Huberty, an analyst with Morgan Stanley, at CNBC.

In a bid to successfully rival Samsung Electronics, Sony and Nokia, Apple will possible need to offer a phone that features technologies that leave others behind in their main selling points, which is pretty hard to accomplish. Still, the company will need to compete against Nokia’s advanced camera, Samsung’s high-performance application processors and big screens as well as Sony’s advances in waterproof design.

It is expected that Apple will unleash its new smartphone sometimes in September, about a year after the company introduced its iPhone 5. It is expected that the new smartphone will feature more powerful system-on-chip as well as iOS 7 operating system.

"Killer" features are not that easy to come by. Just because you want one doesn't mean that you can achieve it, regardless of the millions of dollars spent on it. If it was easy to create these killer features, everyone would be doing it.

No way IMHO. It should be a software "feature" (although the new version will have hardware improvements). Maybe an offline voice / OCR translator in major languages? It's not impossible - there are such apps in the AppStore. But an Apple version will certainly be more integrated in the iOS.

Or maybe a revamped, super cool mapping application?

We will see about that. Soon, I presume.

We will never be so lucky. The only thing keeping me buying a new smurf phone right now is the LACK of dual active sim. But it seems that no one cares about this...

Well that's new... I'm not even being sarcastic...
I bet it will be a software feature which won't make it to older phones officially because they "aren't able to offer a good experience" and then work fine unofficially via jailbreak...

Samsungs S4 may have lacked the "killer feature" but that is because they wanted what they had developed to be close to perfect for all users.
Not have one stand out feature.
If I had to buy shares in one or the other company, it wouldn't be for the Apple i5S, it would be for the Galaxy 5, which i'm predicting will blow Apple out of the water.

An exploding battery activates when you use Google Maps. Jokes aside, I think it will relate to battery technology.

Jokes aside, still iOS is the best mobile OS out there, light years better than Android. To bad the phones are so expensive, no memory expansion, replaceable battery, no dual SIM, etc. Maybe some of those will be the ..."killa' features" ??

Just check the 1 million + reviews out there. For me the most important are:
- no laggines when fast scrolling compared to Android also when scrolling through apps;
- smoother and more responsive touchscreen utilization and navigation
- faster and more responsive Internet browser and network connection
- much more better program management specially for background programs; you can leave as many as you like on the background, phone won't slow down a bit; etc, etc...

You know the funny thing is I don't even own an Apple device. I actually got 2 Android last generation devices, one tablet and one phone, both are way worst in any way than my wife's "old" iPhone 4th generation...

I have said this million times, if you haven't used the Jellybean, don't even say anything about Android.

Do you know how to read?? Or reading whole comments is overrated nowadays...And why so defensive? I just stated my personal opinion after using both OSes for a while. That's all.
