Acer Group, one of the top PC makers, is working on a netbook computer with a microprocessor originally developed for media tablets and convertibles. The laptop with ten-point multi-touch display promises to be one of the most energy-efficient clamshell designs with remarkable battery life, but without too high price-tag.

The Acer Aspire V5-122P-0643 is based on AMD A6-1450 system-on-chip (four x86 Jaguar cores with 1.0GHz – 1.40GHz clock-speed, AMD Radeon HD 8280 graphics engine, DDR3 memory controller, I/O capabilities) code-named Temash and equipped with 2GB DDR3 memory and 500GB hard disk drive. The laptop features all the necessary capabilities expected from today’s laptops, such as 1.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0 etc. The notebook is equipped with a 3-cell battery.

The Aspire V5-122 laptop features 11.6” display with 1366*768 resolution and ten-point multi-touch capability. The feature-packed netbook weighs around 1.5 kilograms, so it is not as portable as it could have been. However, being priced starting at $449, Acer Aspire V5-122 can easily become a solution of choice for students looking forward advanced graphics capabilities and low price.

Acer USA has accidentally published specifications and pricing of the V5-122 laptop in its U.S. online store, but did not reveal when exactly the PC is set to become available

AMD has already started to ship its A-series “Kabini” system-on-chip for revenue. Its low-power A-series “Temash” SoC is about to be shipped, but is currently unavailable in mass quantities. It is believed that Acer and other PC makers will get Temash SoCs in the coming weeks and will be able to supply their products on its base this month or next.

AMD and Acer did not comment on the news-story.

Windows 8 and touchscreen has added $100 to the price of every mediocre laptop on the market.
Pricing should have remained the same and dropped for the old stock.
I'll be looking for clearance sales to buy a new windows 7 laptop.

2.GPU( which is key component nowadays for web browsing, all multimedia tasks ) wise AMD TEMASH is much better than what intel can offer and in terms of Floating-point performance in gigaflops atom even can’t stand in front of AMD TEMASH look this-
intel HD Graphics 4000 -83.20 GFLOPS
Intel HD Graphics 4000 i7 3770k - 104.0 GFLOPS
AMD TEMASH AMD Radeon HD 8280G- 102.4 GFLOPS
Intel atom - intel will not show
3. cost of AMD TEMASH will be lower than intel atom
