I am curious what garbage 5S will they release this autumn. While their products are really good, the acute lack of innovation from iPhone 4 really is becoming frustrating.
Apple is evaluating bigger display panels for next generations of its popular smartphones, according to a media report. An iPhone with larger screen is currently planned to be released sometimes in 2014, but as it usually happens, plans may change, slip or be scrapped completely if prototypes do not meet Apple’s internal quality standards.
Apple is considering introduction of at least two bigger iPhones next year, one with a 4.7” display, another with a 5.7” screen, reports Reuters news-agency citing sources among component suppliers. The latter have been approached with plans for larger screens, however, this means that Apple is evaluating such displays for smartphones, but will not necessarily introduce products with such displays.
The decision to make iPhones with screens larger than the current 4” display of the iPhone 5 is still under discussion internally. Apple is probably creating prototypes of smartphones with different screen sizes, but the final verdict has probably not been made yet.
"They constantly change product specifications almost to the final moment, so you are not really sure whether this is the final prototype," said one person with direct knowledge of the matter.
Since Apple traditionally tends to keep its product family as tidy as possible to avoid competition between different types of devices, it is unlikely that the firm will actually release two smartphones with ultra-large displays. Nonetheless, the company may be looking forward to boost the screen size of Apple iPhone in September, 2014, and then introduce a large “professional” iPhone to compete against super-phones from competitors like Samsung Electronics.
