Apple on Tuesday rolled-out iPhone 5c, the first iPhone ever designed to be affordable. The new iPhone comes in several colors and features the same hardware as the iPhone 5, but will be a little bit more affordable than the flagship iPhone 5s. The small price difference between models 5c and 5s as well as plastic case of the former will likely limit its popularity on well-developed markets.

Apple iPhone 5c comes with 4" screen with 1136*640 resolution (326ppi, 800:1 contrast ratio, 500cd brightness) and features an all-new design crafted from a single, hard-coated polycarbonate body with a steel reinforced frame for a solid, sturdy feel. The steel frame holds the internal components and also doubles as the iPhone 5c’s multiband antenna. The enclosure is one continuous and seamless structure that is finished with a hard coat for a durable and glossy surface. iPhone 5c comes in blue, green, pink, yellow and white.

“iPhone 5c is everything iPhone 5 was and more, in an all-new design packed with great features. iPhone 5c is designed with a beautiful polycarbonate enclosure that looks and feels so solid in your hand,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

Apple iPhone 5c is based on Apple A6 system-on-chip with two ARM Cortex-A15-like “Swift” cores with NEON SIMD accelerators, triple-core PowerVR SGX543MP3 graphics adapter, 1MB L2 cache, 1GB LPDDR2-1066 DRAM, an image co-processor, an audio co-processor and numerous other features. The smartphone also sports 8MP back camera with LED flash and 1.2MP front camera. The iPhone 5c supports ultrafast wireless standards including GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA/CDMA EV-DO/4G/LTE thanks to a unique single-radio 4G/LTE solution that provides fast speeds while fitting into the new thin design. The new iPhone 5 also features dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support with up to 150Mb/s transfer rates.

Apple iPhone 5c delivers an amazing 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks, up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi and LTE networks and up to 8 hours on 3G networks, and up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback.

Just like many other Apple devices, the iPhone 5c supports iOS 7, engineered to support the A7 chip’s 64-bit architecture, the new iSight camera and Touch ID fingerprint sensor. iOS 7 features a new user interface, completely redesigned with a new color palette, distinct, functional layers and subtle motion that make it feel more alive. iOS 7 has hundreds of new features, including Control Center, Notification Center, improved Multitasking, AirDrop, enhanced Photos, Safari, Siri and introduces iTunes Radio, a free Internet radio service based on the iTunes music.

Apple iPhone 5c will be available in the U.S. for a suggested retail price of $99 for the 16GB model and $199 for the 32GB model. iPhone 5c will be on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK on Friday, September 20, 2013.
