AMD announced the availability of the AMD Geode GX SOM-144 Reference Design Kit (RDK), a low-power, high-performance System-On-Module designed to speed development and functionality of the next generation of industrial computing products, such as embedded controllers, point-of-sale terminals, information appliances and kiosks. The RDK is a small form factor reference design tool that includes both hardware and software specifications.
The AMD Geode GX SOM-144 RDK is a reference design platform designed for small, embedded or industrial applications where power, size, performance and reliability are crucial issues. The highly integrated AMD Geode GX SOM-144 RDK is a complete x86 solution, providing materials needed to quickly and efficiently move embedded computing appliance solutions to market. It is capable of processing multiple applications locally, a need required by a number of embedded markets.
The GX SOM-144 RDK supports analog RGB and digital LCD interfaces, industry standard USB 1.1, Parallel ATA-66, AC’97, LPC, PCI and SMB interfaces and busses. AMD’s new reference design may be used with various operating system, including Microsoft Windows CE, Microsoft Windows XP Embedded and Linux.
The GX SOM-144 Reference Design Kit is based on the AMD Geode GX firstname.lastname@example.orgW processor, the RDK provides customers with an affordable, targeted solution that can be easily configured to address industrial application performance needs throughout the design and development cycle. To meet demands for more compact, powerful devices, manufacturers require a design solution that allows for flexibility while supporting widely adopted industry standards.
