Imagination Technologies Group has announced that Intel Corp. had licensed both a member of its new generation, fully programmable PowerVR graphics and video processing IP family, codenamed Eurasia, and a next generation multi-standard video codec IP core.

Under the terms of its licensing arrangements, Imagination Technologies receives license fees and royalty revenues on SoCs incorporating Imagination Technologies’ IP shipped by partners. Intel has previously licensed PowerVR MBX family graphics and associated video and display cores.

Eurasia graphics core is proclaimed to be more advanced compared to PowerVR MBX products.

Intel utilized PowerVR MBX technologies with its graphics accelerator for mobile applications. Eventually PowerVR Eurasia is also likely to be used for various handheld and low-power devices.

Besides Intel Corp. a number of other silicon designers, including ARM, Freescale, Philips, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Texas Instruments, use PowerVR developments.
