Alienware Puts Two GeForce Go 7900 GPUs into Laptops

Alienware, the high-performance gaming personal computer division of Dell Inc., announced on Wednesday its new lineup of mobile computers that delivers performance virtually equal to the most extreme desktop systems available today, the mALX. The mALX and the new m9700 systems feature two GeForce Go 7900 graphics processing units (GPUs) to offer desktop-class performance in mobiles.
<%BANNER[article]%>“With Nvidia GPUs and SLI technology, Alienware has closed the performance gap between mobile and desktop systems with the introduction of our latest mobile systems,” said Mark Vena, vice president of marketing for Alienware.
Alienware currently offers mobile multi-GPU SLI incarnation in its Aurora m9700 and Aurora mALX laptops. The former features 17” (1440x900 or 1920x1200 resolution) screen, dual GeForce Go 7900 GS 256MB configuration, AMD Turion 64 ML-series processors, up to 2GB of memory and up to two hard disk drives. The mALX system features stylish air-brush artwork, 19” (1680x1050 resolution), dual GeForce Go 7900 GTX 256MB configuration, up to 2GB of memory, AMD Turion 64 ML44 processor and numerous additional options in addition to free-of-charge options like backpack or T-shirts.
“The Aurora m9700 and Aurora mALX give customers two incredibly powerful and exciting new mobile options and these new systems underscore Alienware’s ongoing commitment to uncompromised performance at home, the office or on the road,” Mr. Vena added.
Alienware’s mALX system default configuration with two GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics chips costs $4490, shipments start on the 26th of June, 2006. The Aurora m9700 default config with two GeForce Go 7900 GS costs $2398 and shipments start on the 19th of June. Alienware noted at press time that obtaining dual GeForce Go configurations, high-resolution monitors and some other components would take the firm 30 days.ALX desktop systems are engineered and precisely-crafted to deliver ultimate performance using overclocked and tuned-up hardware, however, mALX mobile computers do not feature any overclocked hardware, but boast with larger displays and some other advantages.
