It was only a matter of time before Google Android would catch up with Apple iOS in terms of features. But the platform from the search giant also managed to become better than the iOS in terms of quality, according to Steve Wozniak, a co-founder of Apple, who complains about poor operation of Siri voice services, battery life and overall issues with a closed platform.

"My primary phone is the iPhone. I love the beauty of it. But I wish it did all the things my Android does, I really do. [...] If you are willing to do the work to understand [Android] a little bit, well, I hate to say it, but there’s more available in some ways," said Steve Wozniak, a co-founder of Apple, in an interview with The Daily Beast web-site.

Back in November, 2011, Steve Wozniak got Galaxy Nexus, which is powered by Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" from Google itself; besides, he also owns Motorola Razr Droid. As a result, Mr. Wozniak can compare the latest and greatest from both Android and iOS worlds as he also has Apple iPhone 4S.

Since Google Android is available for licensing by many different hardware makers, it is widely considered as the "next Windows" for smartphone and tablets. But while Mr. Wozniak does not consider Windows a good operating system, although it is installed on nearly 95% of all personal computers sold in the world, he believes Android is even better than Apple iOS.

"There is not as big a difference [between iOS and Android] as there was between Mac and Windows," stressed Mr. Wozniak.

Steve Wozniak notes that Google Android lets developers publish their apps faster compared to iOS, where Apple's bureaucracy slows down software designers. Besides, he claims that he liked Siri much more when it was an app for the iPhone. At present Siri is an exclusive feature of iPhone 4S.

"I used to ask Siri, ‘What are the five biggest lakes in California?’ and it would come back with the answer. Now it just misses. It gives me real estate listings. I used to ask, ‘What are the prime numbers greater than 87?’ and it would answer. Now instead of getting prime numbers, I get listings for prime rib, or prime real estate. [...] With the iPhone 4 I could press a button and call my wife. Now on the 4S I can only do that when Siri can connect over the Internet. But many times it can’t connect. I’ve never had Android come back and say, ‘I can’t connect over the Internet’,” complained the co-founder of Apple.

Additionally, Mr. Wozniak also complains about battery life, which sometimes gets a lot shorter due to software issues with iOS 5. It is necessary to note that not all customers suffer from battery drain.

"With the iPhone, something happened with the new OS or the new phone, and it just started running through the battery so fast. I’ve had a lot of issues with things I have to turn off just to save the battery life," stressed Steve Wozniak.
