Samsung Electronics on Wednesday announced release of its Galaxy Note 10.1" tablet aimed at creative professionals. The slate not only features digitizer, but also comes pre-loaded with special programs specifically optimized for the stylus. Thanks to quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 system-on-chip and various proprietary improvements, the new Galaxy Note 10.1" features a number of exclusive capabilities, such as ability to actually use two apps at once.

The Galaxy Note 10.1" is based on Exynos 4 quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 SoC with 1.4GHz clock-speed, is equipped with 10.1” multi-touch LCD screen with 1280*800 resolution and digitizer; 2GB RAM; 16GB or 32GB of flash storage; Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n (with Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Channel Bonding) and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity. The tablet features a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1.9MP front camera. The device also features accelerometer, digital compass, light and gyroscope. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is based on Android 4.0 operating system.

“Our goal with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was simple – redefine the tablet experience. The S Pen offers both active content creation as well as passive content consumption, while the Multiscreen capability finally enables true multitasking. For the user, the resulting experience is completely new and quite unexpected,” said Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America.

One of the features that distinguishes Galaxy Note 10.1" from all other media tablets on the market is Multiscreen feature, which allows users to actually operate two different apps side-by-side, simultaneously, on the same screen. Apps supported for Multiscreen are S Note, Internet Browser, Video Player, Email, Gallery and Polaris Office .

Featuring an advanced S Pen with 1024 levels of sensitivity, Galaxy Note 10.1 is designed for natural and intuitive content creation. The S Pen is embedded directly into a slot in the device and when removed, activates a taskbar with quick access to optimized S Pen apps such as S Note, Adobe Photoshop Touch and Polaris Office. Alternatively, users can easily set their preferred application to be launched instantly.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" comes pre-loaded with Adobe Photoshop Touch, normally a $9.99 purchase, which is optimized for S Pen; the latter allows to control brush size and opacity by just adjusting the pressure of the pen on the screen. Photoshop Touch is integrated with Adobe Creative Cloud providing users free access to powerful file syncing and sharing features and 2GB of storage space. Files can be synched to the Creative Cloud and opened in Photoshop on the desktop or laptop for further refinement.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will be available in the USA beginning August 16th, 2012. The device will be available in choice of white or dark gray, and in 16 GB or 32 GB memory configurations, for $499.99 or $549.99, respectively.
