Motorola Mobility in partnership with Intel Corp. on Tuesday introduced Motorola RAZR i with Intel Atom "Medfield" systme-on-chip inside. The device boasts with 4.3" high-end screen, Google Android 4.0 operating system as well as improved Intel Atom chip with burst clock-speed as high as 2.0GHz and Hyper-Threading technology. Motorola RAZR i promises to be one of the most powerful smartphones on the market.
"Together with Intel, we're redefining what people can expect from a mobile device. A camera that launches in an instant, Web pages that load blazingly fast and a device that's the perfect balance of screen size and fit in hand. RAZR i delivers just that when you put an Intel-fast processor in a beautifully designed phone and add in extra long battery life," said Jim Wicks, senior vice president of consumer experience design at Motorola Mobility.
Motorola RAZR i is powered by Intel Atom "Medfield" SoC with up to 2.0GHz clock-speed, the world's first smartphone to feature the chip. The gadget features 4.3" super AMOLED screen with 960*540 resolution, Google Android 4.0.4 "Ice Cream Sandwich operating system as well as 8MP camera with support for high-dynamic range. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM, but only with 8GB of internal storage, meaning that a microSD card will be needed for intensive usage. Just like other high-end phones, RAZR i features 3G, 3.5G, 802.11abgn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and other features. The smartphone also supports near field communication (NFC) technology to send contacts, links, maps and more directly to compatible phones with Android Beam.
Motorola RAZR i is designed with premium protective materials, including aluminum frame surrounds the display, which is made of Corning Gorilla glass; on the back, RAZR i is made of DuPont Kevlar. RAZR i is also protected with a splash-guard coating, even on the electrical boards inside.
"Intel's goal is to provide compelling technology options that translate into great user benefits and experiences. RAZR i is a great proofpoint in the collaboration and we're thrilled to be working with Motorola to bring this edge-to-edge experience enhanced with Intel Inside to people around the world," said Erik Reid, general manager, Intel's mobile and communications group.
Motorola RAZR i will be available in black beginning in October in select European and Latin American markets including the U.K., France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico with more to be announced. A stand out white version will also be coming to select markets. Pricing and availability will vary by country.
