Belkin on Wednesday announced the launch of the world’s first portable keyboard folio for the Apple iPad mini, which is designed to provide a better typing experience in a smaller package. Belkin’s Portable Keyboard Case combines a removable keyboard and convenient folio in one slim, lightweight design.

"Because the iPad mini enjoys most of the same features as a full-sized iPad, it only makes sense to offer a scaled down version of our award-winning keyboard folio for the iPad mini. No matter the size of the device, people want an alternative to touchscreen typing that is comfortable, intuitive and accurate, and our new portable keyboard gives them that option,” said Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin.

The Belkin Portable Keyboard Case for iPad mini helps reduce typing mistakes common on tablets and features laptop-style keyboard with tactile feedback and well-spaced keys for its size. The keyboard folds flat when not in use and also has camera-lens cutout. It connects via Bluetooth wireless technology and has iPad mini-specific shortcut keys to easily control audio and video. The device features 155 hours active battery life and includes USB-to-mini-USB cable for easy recharging. The integrated folio offers sleek, low-profile protection with a smooth inner lining to protect against everyday wear and tear.

The Portable Keyboard Case for iPad mini is available for pre-order now on and will be available at and Walmart in November. It also will be available in Canada at Best Buy and Future Shop. The keyboard for Apple iPad mini costs $79.99.
