Sony Corp. has announced that it will begin the phased launch of its latest Bravia LCD television in all global regions from the end of the year. The new Bravia boasts a 84" LCD panel with 4K (3840*2160) resolution. The TV incorporates Sony's “4K X-Reality Pro” super-resolution high picture quality engine. Sony follows LG Electronics with its 4K ultra high-definition TV-set (UHDTV) and both are driving the new level of visual perfection to the masses.
The new 84” Bravia 4K LCD TV comes equipped with a panel comprising approximately 8.29 megapixels (52 ppi), which is 4 times the resolution of Full HD standard, and incorporates special 4K X-Reality Pro video processor optimized for 4K TV. This engine is capable of upconverting a variety of content (including that in stereo-3D) with different resolutions, such as HD digital broadcasts or Blu-ray discs content, into crisp, high-quality images with 4K resolution. The UDHTV also comes with "10 unit live speaker" 50W side speaker system, with Sony's own signal-processing technology to provide accurate three-dimensional sound.

Sony has been involved in building the 4K content viewing and creating environment in the professional field, from rolling out its 4K digital cinema projectors to movie theaters throughout the world, to preparing a range of production equipment, including the flagship CineAlta “F65” camera capable of shooting 4K content. In the consumer electronic field, Sony has released the “VPL-VW1000ES” home theater projector for family use which has been favorably received.
At present, there are virtually no 4K content, either from broadcasters, or from movie companies on Blu-ray discs. It will take several years before Blu-ray or its successors support 4K resolutions as well as high efficiency video coding (HEVC, also known as H.265 and MPEG-H part 2) format, but what is rumoured is that Sony's forthcoming PlayStation 4 "Orbis" video-game console due in late 2013 is going to support native 4K video output, which means that it will also natively support playback of appropriate content. Nowadays, leading Hollywood studios and directors already shoot movies with cameras supporting 4K resolutions.
Pricing of Sony's 84” Bravia 4K LCD TV is unknown.

Hope that's sarcasm. PS4 will be successful if it manages to play DX11 games at 1080P with anti-aliasing at 60 fps. Not even HD7970 / GTX680 would be able to play next generation games at 4K resolution. Your expectations are totally unrealistic for an 8K capability.
PS4 will probably output games to 4K (i.e., upscale from 1080P) if it has an HD7000 GPU as that's a feature of GCN series, but it is unlikely it will actually be able to play any modern game at 3840*2160.
This is actually no different than when Sony execs were discussing that PS3 would be able to play games @ 1080P when it was launched in 2006. As we know that never happened for 99% of the games on PS3. The best looking games such as Uncharted 3, God of War actually run even below 1280x720.
As next generation game engines allow developers to make games even more complex, PS4 will need at least an HD7850 GPU to even manage next gen games at 1080P.

PS4 will support 4k resoltuions but i doubt any of games will run at that. No doubt it will become another Blue ray player as the PS3 did, im a PC boy consoles have never impressed me apart from a couple of titles here and there "god of war".
They should make the PS4 upgradable like PC then maybe it will be good that or cloud gaming will take over the world then hardware wont matter so much.
Only time will tell.
