VIA Technologies announced the VIA Vinyl Envy24MT audio controller for mobile and small form factor personal computers that demand uncompromising audio quality.

With consumers placing increasing multimedia demands on their notebooks, using them for gaming, music and movie playback and more, there are growing requirements for higher quality audio support to maximize the user experience. While notebooks and other small form factor devices have traditionally relied on onboard AC’97 solutions, there have been trade-offs in quality, with such solutions compromised by noise, constrained layouts, and limitations inherent in AC’97 audio devices.

The VIA Vinyl Envy24MT Audio Controller supports 24-bit/192kHz high fidelity content through analog stereo inputs and outputs, as well digital audio connections. For audio workstation applications, the VIA Envy24MT also supports two MIDI ports, and low latency drivers such as ASIO.

The VIA Vinyl Envy24MT Audio Controller is optimized for the notebook, with a low profile design and ultra-low power requirements. Featuring support for a number of PC interfaces, the VIA Envy24MT Audio Controller can be integrated onto mainboards, mini-PCI cards, or even PCMCIA cards. This design flexibility enables the VIA Envy24MT to be used as a standard PC feature, an add-on within a system, or integrated into external audio devices.
