Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox game console is projected to become very popular among gamers and already attracts a lot of attention from the end-users. A lot of information is known about the technology behind the forthcoming Xbox console and recently a picture of the devices was published by a web-site.

According to a news-story by Beta-News web-site, the image first surfaced on the SomethingAwful Forums late Friday, where it rapidly gained interest as the first genuine picture of Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox. While the quality of the photo is not high enough for an official image, Team Xbox web-site published a photo of the console from a different angle, which may indicate that the presumable design of the Xbox 360 is real.

Following the latest trends, Microsoft console, which is to be called Xbox 360, will be relatively small. In contrast to the current Xbox design, the new one will have curved sides that emphasize its petite dimensions and puts into rather sci-fi shape.

The next-generation console by Microsoft Corp. will be formally announced on the 12th of May, 2005, during a special show at MTV channel. Viewers will get the first look at the Xbox vision for the next generation – one that ensures that the user experience is always connected, always personalized and always in high definition. The special will feature never-before-seen gameplay of future Xbox games, a peek into the future of the Xbox Live online gaming service, backstage celebrity interviews and exclusive insider footage on the making of the next-generation console.

Microsoft next Xbox console is based around microprocessor developed by IBM, high-definition visual processing unit designed by ATI Technologies, I/O controller engineered by SiS and some other key components. The gaming machine will feature wireless network connectivity and will provide a broad set of multimedia capabilities, it is projected.

Commercial launch of the Xbox 360 may be scheduled for October or November, 2005, Goldman Sachs company recently said in a research note.
