ATI Technologies’ RADEON-series visual processing units had been selected by IGT to power casino gaming machines on IGT’s next generation Advanced Video Platform (AVP) architecture, the company said recently.

“We chose ATI for their performance leadership and commitment to deliver superior solutions with comprehensive support. ATI will enable us to strengthen our products with enhanced game play and deliver a new world of gaming entertainment,” said Ali Saffari, Senior Vice President of Engineering for IGT.

ATI’s RADEON graphics technology is set to enable a “new level of gaming entertainment with exceptional visual performance, vibrant 3D animation, and big-screen cinematic quality”, the companies indicated.

ATI is recognized globally as a key provider of graphics technology for markets like personal computers, game consoles, cell-phones, set-top-boxes and others, casino gaming machines is something new for the firm.

“ATI has long been known for enabling the world's leading PC manufacturers with outstanding graphics. Now ATI is delivering these industry recognized graphics solutions to North America's leading gaming machine supplier,” said Andrew Schmied, senior group manager, embedded display graphics, ATI Technologies.
