Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, will share his vision on the future of video gaming at the Game Developers Conference 2011 in early March. The views expressed by Mr. Iwata may reflect or even reveal technologies that will be a part of Nintendo's highly-anticipated successor of Wii game console.

Throughout the most recent 25 years (from the mid eighties to nowadays) innovation of video games has continuously reinvented the game experience in terms of graphics, player control and pure game design. Nonetheless, as games became more complex and gameplay changed dramatically, " part of the magic of those early days of game creation has been lost", according to Nintendo.

"Nintendo has a unique perspective on what makes gamers grin, what defines the term 'gamer' and what is essential to ensuring industry growth. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will draw from his development roots and talk not only about how video gaming has evolved, but also, more importantly, he will offer his views on where we go from here," the description of Mr. Iwata's keynote reads.

While "the magic" of video games can hardly be returned with new hardware alone, the keynote may reflect certain intentions the company may have for its next-generation console, which launch is inevitable and the only question is when Nintendo plans to replace Wii and not whether it plans at all. In any case, the keynote may be very important for the industry in general.
