Despite of heavy competition from mobile platforms, relatively high price and numerous restrictions when it comes to used games, Microsoft Xbox One is facing tremendous demand from the end-users in the U.S., according to Amazon. It is most likely that the consoles are currently pre-ordered by hardcore gamers and Microsoft fans.

“We were thrilled by the unprecedented demand we saw for Xbox One today. In the first four hours of preorder availability, we sold through most of our Xbox One Day One Edition inventory. Customers eager to get an Xbox One should visit our store at Amazon.com/xboxone to ensure they keep up-to-date on the latest information. We are excited to be working with Microsoft to deliver the next generation of games and entertainment,” said John Love, director of U.S. video games & software at Amazon.com.

Microsoft has managed to sell over 76 million Xbox 360 video game consoles in eight years. Thanks to a number of all-new exclusive game franchises announced for the Xbox One, the console promises to become popular among core gamers as well. Therefore, it is not surprising that experienced gamers have already started to pre-order the new systems.

Microsoft Xbox One is based on AMD Fusion custom-designed system-on-chip with eight x86 low-power/low-cost Jaguar cores, AMD Radeon HD graphics with GCN architecture (with 32MB ESRAM/EDRAM buffer) as well as 8GB of DDR3 system memory. The console features 500GB hard disk drive, Blu-ray disc drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, output of video with up to 4K resolution (3840*2160) using HDMI 1.4 as well as 7.1-channel audio. The new Xbox One comes with completely redesigned Kinect sensor that will feature 1920*1080 RGB camera, improved infrared sensor and enhanced voice controls. The console sports a number of functions, e.g. TV-cable pass-through that will seamlessly integrate it into the living room.

The Xbox One launch bundle will be available for $499.99 in the U.S., £429 in the U.K. and €499 in European markets. The console will be released in 21 markets around the world in November 2013.

This figures well for AMD and their road to profitability.

"In the first four hours of preorder availability, we sold through most of our Xbox One Day One Edition inventory."

That is a very broad statement. What is the quantity of preorders limited by Microsoft for day one to Amazon? How does that number compare to previous and other competitive next gen consoles on day one?

ms has to do something to yield off the ps4's thunder. I mean lets face it pure gamers will favor the ps4 over the xbox one. for one it's more powerful. two there is no DRM. 3 even with a playstaion plus online subscription now it's 30 bucks a year vs xbox lives 60 dollars a year and last but not least it will cost 100 dollars cheaper then the xbox one. So what makes more logical sense to get if you are a gamer? the ps4. these figures only show a demand in pre orders for America lets see how they fair in the rest of the world vs sony pre order sales. i'm willing to bet world wide the ps4 pre order sales will be a lot more then the xbox one's.

A demand of one would be Unprecedented as it has never been on sale previously so this is a nonsense statement issued by a marketing dept.
All the marketing hype by advertising/marketing dept is just hot air to try and drum up demand be it for PS4 or Xbox.

I've looked at the top sellers of both Amazon US and UK and the Playstation 4 is beating it in both territories. It certainly isn't doing anywhere near as well as the competition. Hell in the UK it's being beaten by The Last of Us.

Hardcore gamers buying Xbone? Please. It's a bunch of parents and 13-15 year old COD players that want early access to DLC. In practically every way imaginable from price, overall performance (GPU/memory allocation/bandwidth), HDD upgradability, used games policies, required internet connection, PS4 is killing XB1. And if you are a PC gamer, then the combination of PC & PS4 makes XB1 redundant unless one is the biggest fan of GOW, Halo and Forza.

Outside of US and maybe UK, PS4 will wipe the floor with XB1 unless MS pulls the world's most amazing exclusives games and those are not available on the PC.

With the way MS ruined XB1, I wouldn't even buy it for $100 less than PS4, nevermind paying $100 more. SMH.

As PS4 sells more units worldwide over time, it will get more exclusives, and it will undoubtedly have the best looking 1st party games.
